Davis is an independent private oil and
gas exploration, development and production company. The Company is
focused primarily on opportunities in the onshore Gulf Coast and
offshore Gulf of Mexico, where it has developed significant
technical expertise and where the high production rates associated
with hydrocarbon deposits have historically provided it the best
opportunity to achieve a rapid payback on its invested capital. This
focus and historic success provide the Company a solid foundation
for future high impact projects in the Gulf of Mexico.
Davis uses its geologic and geophysical expertise to identify and
acquire attractive oil and natural gas mineral rights. After
acquisition of mineral rights, the Company then sells pre-drill
equity to other industry participants who help fund the exploratory
drilling capital. Because Davis now generates all of its prospects,
the Company can control the size of the working interest that it
retains as well as the selection of the operator and the
non-operating participants.
The Company also has complete drilling, completion, oilfield
operations and marketing staff, and operates projects whenever
possible. Every effort is made to minimize the time to bring
successful wells to sales, which is assisted by the Company owning
certain gathering lines and processing facilities in key focus
areas. The Company currently does not operate in the Deepwater Gulf
of Mexico where appropriate operating partners are selected during
the prospect marketing process.
As a result of this business model, the Company is afforded access
to a large and disproportionate number of opportunities for a
company its size, thus improving the likelihood of achieving success
and increasing the number of wells drilled. This strategy is
consistent through all aspects of the business although they may
manifest in different ways across the various geographic areas.
